Men's Department Store
Located in Florence, Italy
The department store named Dopa La Pioggia is five stories tall. Each floor was divided up among the designers in my class. Three of us were assigned to the third floor which would be the men's department. One member from each group was responsible to collaborate with each other on the facade and the circulation within and outside of the space. The member from my group whom was responsible for this job was Paige Kosmider, along with her contribution our group had added an exterior cube to the facade that was connected to our department on the third floor. This Geometric object aloud marketable ability as well with acting as a transitional object with the exterior staircase that the facade/circulation group added to the structure.
Concept: Fire
The idea of fire came from wanting a mix of bold and natural colors with a sharp edge feel. After studying the forms created by fire we took the motif of the triangle and moved it throughout the space just as fire does. We also pulled out the colors from the natural objects used with fire, the grey and black from coal, the natural browns from logs, and the burnt red from fire itself.
This project was a group project:
The Third Floor was Designed by: Christina Kramer, Paige Kosmider, and Emily Conlon
The Facade and Circulation was Deisgned by: Paige Kosmider, Chelsea Fortney, Ashley Masa, Jessica Tennant, and Sarah Schicker
Programs used: AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, and Google Sketch-Up
